1. Who we are
Tabital Pay Ltd (registration number CS 117960626) is the data controller for the personal data described here.
Address: 37 Hillview St. (GZ-097-6119), 7th Avenue, Greda Estate, Teshie, Accra, Ghana. Phone: +233 50 395 0453. Email: info@tabitalpay.com.
2. What we collect
When you sign up (customers)
- Full name, email, phone number, date of birth
- City, Ghana Post GPS address and home address
- Job title, employer, monthly salary, employment start date, and whether your salary is paid into a bank account
- Mobile Money number and Ghana Card number
- A referee’s name, phone number and relationship to you (please tell them you’ve named them)
When we verify you
- A photo of your Ghana Card and a selfie with a liveness check, captured by Smile ID. The images go straight from your device to Smile ID; we keep Smile ID’s result, not the images.
- The name and date of birth that the ID authority returns, to compare with what you gave us
- Evidence of employment and salary (for example a payslip or employer letter), for your first plan and for orders of GHS 10,000 or more
When you use Tabital
- Your orders, payment plans, payments, late fees, deferments and disputes
- Payment references from Paystack. If you save a card for autopay, we keep only Paystack’s card reference, never your card number.
- A random ID for your device or browser, and simple signals such as whether the browser is automated, used to prevent fraud
- Messages we send you and your messages to us
- Sign-in records
Merchants
Business name, owner, registration number, tax ID, address, phone, email and payout account (Mobile Money or bank).
3. Why we use it
| Purpose | Legal basis (Act 843) |
|---|---|
| Open and run your account; process orders and payments | Needed to perform our agreement with you |
| Check your identity (Ghana Card, selfie, liveness) | Your consent, which we ask for at the check, and our legal duties (KYC, anti-money laundering) |
| Decide whether to approve an order and set your limit and down payment | Needed for the agreement; our legitimate interest in lending responsibly |
| Prevent and investigate fraud | Legitimate interest and legal duties |
| Send payment reminders and account messages | Needed for the agreement |
| Recover overdue payments, including contacting your employer and credit bureaus | Needed for the agreement; legitimate interest |
| Keep records and answer regulators | Legal duty |
| Marketing | Only if you agree. You can stop at any time |
Automated decisions. Our system uses your salary, employment and repayment record to set your spending limit, down payment and whether new purchases are allowed. Some cases go to a person on our team. You can ask for any decision about you to be reviewed by a person, and you can tell us why you disagree.
4. Who we share it with
We share only what each needs:
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| Paystack | Card and Mobile Money payments, refunds and merchant payouts |
| Smile ID | Ghana Card and selfie/liveness checks |
| mNotify | Sending SMS |
| Render | Hosting our app and database |
| Our email provider | Password-reset emails |
| The merchant you buy from | Your name, contact details and delivery address, so they can deliver your order |
| Your employer | To confirm your employment, and if a payment is seriously overdue |
| Credit bureaus | Reporting repayment history and defaults, as the law allows |
| Debt collectors and lawyers | Recovering unpaid debts, for orders of GHS 10,000 or more |
| Regulators, police and courts | When the law requires it |
We don’t sell your personal data.
5. Data sent outside Ghana
Some of our providers store data outside Ghana. For example, our app and database are hosted by Render, outside Ghana. Smile ID and Paystack may also process data outside Ghana. We only use providers that protect data to the standard Act 843 requires.
6. How long we keep it
- Account, identity and payment records: while your account is open, and afterwards for as long as the law requires us to keep financial, credit and anti-money-laundering records.
- Sign-in records: 30 days.
- Marketing preferences: until you change them.
We don’t keep personal data longer than we need it for the purposes in section 3 or than the law requires.
7. How we protect it
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- Ghana Card, phone, Mobile Money and bank numbers are masked on our staff screens. Only senior staff can see a full number, they must give a reason, and each view is logged.
- Staff only get the access their role needs.
- Payments go through Paystack; we never see or store your full card number.
8. Your rights
Under Act 843 you can:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
- ask us to correct data that’s wrong or out of date;
- ask us to delete data we no longer need (we can’t delete records the law makes us keep, or while money is owed);
- object to marketing at any time, and to other uses based on our legitimate interests;
- ask for a person to review an automated decision (section 3);
- complain to the Data Protection Commission of Ghana (dataprotection.org.gh).
To use any of these rights, email info@tabitalpay.com. We may ask you to prove who you are. We’ll reply as soon as we can, within the time the law allows.
9. Children
Tabital Pay is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data about children.
10. Cookies
- tabitalpay.com (this website) uses cookies needed for the site to work, and the live-chat window may set its own cookies when it loads. We don’t use advertising or analytics cookies.
