Getting started

Who can use Tabital Pay?

You need to be 18 or older, live in Ghana and have a valid Ghana Card. You must have been employed for at least 6 months, earn at least GHS 2,000 a month paid into a bank account, and have a Mobile Money account in your own name. We also check your identity, employment and credit record.

How does the identity check work?

Before your first purchase you take a photo of your Ghana Card and a selfie with a liveness check, through our partner Smile ID. The images go straight to Smile ID. You have 3 attempts; after that, contact us.

Why do you check my employment?

For your first plan, and for any order of GHS 10,000 or more, we confirm your employment, for example with a payslip, an employer letter or a call to your employer. Paying in full doesn’t need this.

Plans and paying

What plans are there?

Pay in 4: a down payment of 40–50% of the price (depending on your record), then 3 monthly payments. Pay in 3: a 50% down payment, then 2 monthly payments. Pay in 2: a 50% down payment, then 1 monthly payment. Or pay in full. 6- and 12-month plans are coming soon.

What is the down payment?

The down payment is Payment 1. You pay it at checkout by card or Mobile Money, together with any delivery fee. The rest is split into equal monthly payments. Example: a GHS 4,000 phone on Pay in 4 with a 40% down payment is GHS 1,600 today, then GHS 800 a month for 3 months.

Is there interest?

No. Standard plans have 0% interest and no service fee. You pay the product price, plus any delivery fee with your down payment. Late fees apply only if you pay late.

How do I pay?

In the Tabital app, by card or Mobile Money through Paystack. You can switch on autopay with a saved card; we try on the due date and again 1 and 3 days later. We remind you by SMS and in the app before each due date.

Can I pay early?

Yes. You can pay any instalment early, one at a time and in order, at no extra cost. An instalment paid early counts as paid on time. Paying early doesn’t reduce the total.

Late payments and moving a payment

What happens if I pay late?

There is no grace period. The day after a missed due date we add a late fee of 10% of that payment. If it’s still unpaid after 31 days, we add another 10% of what is left. Late fees on one plan never add up to more than 25% of the order total. Example: a missed GHS 800 payment becomes GHS 880.

Can I move a payment?

Once per plan, you can move an upcoming monthly payment back by one month. The fee is 10% of what’s still owed on it, paid up front. Ask on or before the due date. Your later payments move by a month too, so two never fall in the same month.

What if I can’t pay at all?

Contact us as early as you can at info@tabitalpay.com. If a payment stays unpaid we send reminders, then call you, then may contact your employer and report the debt to a credit bureau. A plan more than 90 days late is in default.

Your spending limit

What is my spending limit?

It’s based on your verified monthly salary. New customers start at 1× their monthly salary. We check it against the full price of the item, not just what’s left after the down payment.

How do I raise my limit?

Each plan you pay on time adds 0.1× your monthly salary, up to 0.5× more than your starting limit. Late payments lower it. A late payment cleared with its fee within 7 days doesn’t lower it.

Why was my order declined?

Common reasons: a payment is overdue, the price is above your limit, your identity or employment isn’t verified yet, or our checks need more information. Email info@tabitalpay.com if you’re unsure.

Orders, disputes and refunds

My order didn’t arrive or is damaged. What do I do?

Contact the store first. If that doesn’t fix it, report the problem from your plan in the app. Your plan is paused while we look into it: no late fees, reminders or autopay. We aim to decide within 21 days.

How do refunds work?

Returns and refunds go through a Tabital dispute, not directly through the store. If you’re right, we cancel the plan, you owe nothing more and we refund what you’ve paid to your card or Mobile Money. If we don’t approve an order, we refund your down payment.

Where can I use Tabital Pay?

In the Tabital Pay app, on the web at app.tabitalpay.com, and with partner merchants. On a partner’s website, choose Tabital Pay at checkout, sign in, pick your plan and pay the first payment. In store, give the cashier your phone number: we’ll text you a secure link to complete your purchase. The store can also give you a payment link or QR code. You see your full schedule before you pay, and your order is confirmed once Tabital approves it. Collecting in store has no delivery fee.

Is there a Tabital Pay app?

Yes. Shoppers use the Tabital Pay app and merchants use the Tabital Business app. You can also use Tabital Pay on the web at app.tabitalpay.com.

Is my data safe?

We use encrypted connections and mask sensitive numbers on our staff screens. Payments go through Paystack and we never store your card number. Read our Privacy Policy.
