Tabital Pay – Customer Terms and Credit Terms
Version 2026-10-03 · Effective 3 October 2026 · Replaces version 2026-09-27
These terms are the agreement between you and Tabital Pay Ltd (“Tabital”, “we”, “us”), registration number CS 117960626, 37 Hillview St. (GZ-097-6119), 7th Avenue, Greda Estate, Teshie, Accra, Ghana. They apply when you open a Tabital Pay account and when you buy with a Tabital payment plan, and they include the credit terms for every plan. Please read them. Each order records the version of these terms you accepted.

1. What Tabital Pay is
Tabital Pay lets you buy products from partner merchants and pay for them in parts. You pay the first part (the down payment) at checkout, and the rest in equal monthly payments, with no interest.
Tabital is not the seller. The merchant sells, delivers and stands behind the product. Tabital pays the merchant and you repay Tabital.
2. Who can use Tabital Pay
You can open an account and buy on a payment plan if all of these are true:
- you are 18 or older;
- you live in Ghana and have a valid Ghana Card;
- you have been employed for at least 6 months;
- your salary is paid into a bank account and is at least GHS 2,000 a month;
- you have a Mobile Money account in your own name;
- you pass our identity, employment, credit and fraud checks.
Meeting these conditions doesn’t guarantee approval. We can decline an order or an account, and we will tell you if we do.
3. Your account and identity check
- You must give true, current details: your full name as on your Ghana Card, date of birth, phone, email, address, employer, salary, Mobile Money number, Ghana Card number, and a referee.
- Before your first purchase you complete an identity check: a photo of your Ghana Card and a selfie with a liveness check, done by our partner Smile ID. You have 3 attempts; after that, contact us.
- For your first plan, and for any order of GHS 10,000 or more, we also verify your employment (for example with a payslip, an employer letter or a call to your employer). Paying in full doesn’t need this.
- Keep your password private. Tell us at once at info@tabitalpay.com if you think someone else has used your account.
- Once your identity is verified, you can’t change your name or Ghana Card number yourself. Contact us.
4. Your spending limit
Your limit is based on your verified monthly salary and your repayment record. We check the full price of an order against your limit, not just what’s left after the down payment.
- New customers start at 1× monthly salary.
- Your limit grows by 0.1× salary for each plan you pay on time, up to 0.5× more than your starting limit.
- Each instalment paid late lowers your limit by 0.5× salary, but never below 0.25× salary.
- If you clear a late instalment and its late fee within 7 days of the due date, your limit and tier don’t go down. That plan just doesn’t count toward an increase.
- A late payment stops lowering your limit 12 months after its due date. It stays in your history.
- While any payment is overdue, you can’t make new purchases. If a payment is more than 30 days overdue, new credit stays blocked until it’s paid.
Your down payment rate and limit depend on your risk tier, which comes from your employment and repayment record. You always see your down payment before you confirm an order.
5. The plans
| Plan | You pay at checkout (Payment 1) | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Pay in Full | The full price | Nothing more |
| Pay in 2 | 50% down payment | 1 monthly payment |
| Pay in 3 | 50% down payment | 2 monthly payments |
| Pay in 4 | A down payment of 40% to 50% of the price, set by your risk tier | 3 monthly payments |
- The down payment is Payment 1. The rest of the price is split equally over the monthly payments. If it doesn’t split evenly, the last payment carries the few pesewas left over.
- Standard plans have 0% interest and no service fee.
- A delivery fee, if any, is paid in full with the down payment. It is never split into monthly payments. Collecting in store has no delivery fee.
- Monthly payments fall due on the same calendar day each month after your purchase.
- 6- and 12-month plans are not available yet.
Example (Pay in 4, GHS 4,000 phone, 40% down payment, no delivery fee): GHS 1,600 today, then GHS 800 in month 1, month 2 and month 3. Total GHS 4,000.
6. Checkout, approval and your schedule
- Before you confirm, we show you the full schedule: every payment, its due date, any delivery fee, and the total you will pay.
- You pay the down payment through Paystack by card or Mobile Money. Your order then waits for our approval.
- If we approve, the schedule shown to you is fixed for that order. Later changes to our rates don’t change it.
- If we don’t approve, we refund your down payment through Paystack (or by hand if that fails).
- The merchant then delivers or hands over the product.
7. Paying
- Pay in the Tabital app by card or Mobile Money through Paystack. You may pay any instalment early, in order, at no extra cost. An instalment paid early counts as paid on time. Paying early doesn’t reduce the total payable.
- Autopay is optional. If you switch it on, we charge your saved card on the due date and, if that fails, 1 day and 3 days later. We keep only Paystack’s card reference, never your card number. You can switch autopay off or remove the card at any time.
- We remind you by SMS and in the app 3 days and 1 day before each due date, on the day, and 1, 6 and 31 days after if it’s still unpaid.
- If you tell us you’ve paid outside the app, the payment stays due (and late fees can apply) until we confirm the money arrived.
- Money we receive for an overdue instalment is applied to the instalment first, then to its late fees.
8. Late fees
There is no grace period. If an instalment isn’t paid by its due date:
- Day after the due date: a late fee of 10% of the overdue instalment.
- 31 days or more past due: a second late fee of 10% of what is still unpaid on that instalment.
- Cap: the late fees on one plan never add up to more than 25% of the order’s total (price plus any delivery fee). Fees we waive don’t count toward the cap.
Example: a GHS 800 instalment is missed. The day after, GHS 80 is added, so GHS 880 is due.
Late payments also affect your limit (section 4).
9. Moving a payment (deferment)
You can move one upcoming monthly payment per plan back by one month.
- The fee is 10% of what is still owed on that instalment, paid up front through Paystack.
- You must ask on or before its due date. It’s not available for the down payment, while any payment is overdue, or while a dispute is open.
- That instalment and every later unpaid instalment move by one month, so two payments never fall in the same month. Before you agree, we show the fee, the old and new dates, and the new total.
- The dates only move once the fee is received. If the deferment can no longer apply when your fee arrives (for example, you already paid that instalment), we refund the fee.
- A deferment doesn’t lower your limit or tier, but that plan won’t count toward a limit increase.
10. If you don’t pay
If a payment stays unpaid we will, in this order: send reminders; call you; contact your employer; report the debt to a credit bureau; and, for orders of GHS 10,000 or more, take legal action to recover it. A plan more than 90 days past due is in default, and the whole unpaid balance can be recovered. We may also restrict your account. A restricted account can still sign in and pay, but can’t buy.
We will always treat you with respect. We won’t contact anyone about your debt except you and your employer, and only as the law allows.
11. Problems with an order (disputes)
If your order doesn’t arrive, arrives damaged, or isn’t what you ordered:
- Contact the merchant first.
- If that doesn’t fix it, report it from the plan in the app. Your plan is paused while the dispute is open: no late fees, reminders or autopay.
- We aim to decide within 21 days, after hearing from you and the merchant. Send any evidence you have (photos, receipts, messages).
- If you’re right: we cancel the plan, you owe nothing more, and we refund what you’ve paid to your card or Mobile Money.
- If the merchant is right: the plan restarts, and your remaining due dates move forward by the number of days it was paused.
Returns go through this same process. A merchant can’t refund you directly through Tabital.
12. Your account
- We don’t delete accounts, because we must keep records of credit and payments. You can ask us to close yours once nothing is owed either way.
- We can suspend or restrict an account for false information, suspected fraud, or overdue payments. You still owe what’s due.
- We check for fraud (for example, one Ghana Card on two accounts, or buying from a shop you own). A flagged account can’t buy until we’ve reviewed it.
13. Messages
We send you SMS and in-app messages about your account, payments and security. You can’t turn these off while you have a plan. We’ll only send marketing messages if you agree separately, and you can stop them at any time.
14. Your data
We use your personal data as explained in our Privacy Policy.
15. What we’re responsible for
The merchant is responsible for the product, its delivery, warranty and returns. We’re responsible for handling your payments correctly and for dealing with disputes as set out in section 11. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Ghanaian consumer protection law.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll put the new version and its date on this page, and you accept the version in force each time you place an order. The schedule and fees of an order you’ve already placed don’t change.
17. Law and complaints
These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana. If you have a complaint, email info@tabitalpay.com, or call +233 50 395 0453. We’ll confirm we have it and tell you what happens next. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can take it to the courts of Ghana or any authority the law allows.
